Over recent years we have noticed a number of Colletes Bees have moved in on some plots, compost bins etc. These are a new species to most of the UK and are quite harmless. They are a solitary, ground-nesting bee that generally occurs in a large group of thousands of bees. The males don’t sting and the females remain underground. generally, the only way to get a female Colletes Bee to sting you is to pick it up and squeeze it!
